i suppose a fantasy epic would work (mayhaps my story would eventually fit into it, if it goes the way that im thinking) but a catgirl fic would also work.. time for /d/'s comparision! doo do da doo do doo doo doo doo doo!
1st, catgirl fic: this could work out really well, considering what happens. it could be a fic thats just based off of the catgirl's/owners life, so you wouldnt have to worry too much about a constant plot. (one that says: 'hey! look! listen! hello! do this over there!'.. shudders navi+tape=silence... and possible r34. . .) i would think that this would be interesting, one reason being how he/she found his/her/it's catgirl.. as far as i know theres: found-inna-box, found somewhere, bought, saved (/d/amn rapists.. stick to the schoolgirls, will ya!?) or anything else that escapes my slightly occupied mind.
it could also be good because you could pick nearly any setting and it would work.. spacey (cats and girls and spaceships), fantasy (ofcourse), modern (catgirls.. the musical!) or maybe a mix.. or a type of steam-punk-magi-teck extrrravaganza!
for moi, if i made a fic like that, chances are that... i couldnt really do that much.. i mean its kinda like the Chobits idea; sure theres fun to be had but untill the actual plot pops up, its just kinda one day at a time (though teaching a catgirl how to talk and such makes me feel all warm inside...o_o.. right, moving on!)
if you can, i'd say 'alrighty then' for the chronicles of the catgirl.
2nd, friggin' EPIC!: this, i think, would be easier to write. to be honest, since i've played rpgs for.. looks at calander the majority of my life, i've kinda looked at my story like that.. slightly. not with the level, conveniently-placed 'healing pots', and the ability to carry 99 cottages. but with the rising skill and abilities of characters, the ability to look back at the first chapter and say 'holy crap!' at their lack of said skills. (though i realize that again, any/every story would have the same effect.. i would think)
if you wanted to, that would also work.. but you would have to find a way to tie it all together, consider what i have planned. (ugh.. i know, more 'yadda yadda insert 'nother /d/amn example yaddy*)
though what im working on, the 'first' main plot, i do intend a later/giant threatening enemy to show up.. but the problem is making the enemy sensible. Raynor, the first 'big bad', kidnaps Evee(Ronoe's slave/best freind) because as a freedom extremist, he sees it that its despicable that someone would enslave another (though.. nah, i have to leave SOME secrets that would only be found out by reading it).. but you can see that he isnt 'evil', hes just doing what he thinks is right, which in some cases, he really has saved slaves that were in less than happy lives. Ronoe is just seen as another richman/noble who doesnt deserve to live for his 'actions' insert eventual explaination that ties this together.
for the bigbad of the EPIC(yes. it must be in all caps..),i think it would be nice if he had an actual reason for destroying/conquering the world(s). though its less work, i dont really care for the 'i do it because im E-vile!' because it would be a shame to have characters with depth and actual personalities and have a villian that says 'grr! i keel you!'
onto possible magicks: for my story, i know that magic will be in it, i just dont know how. i know that it would'nt be like 'my baby just cast fire and melted his spoon! awww', but more like a learned ability, nothing that can be casually used by people who focus on say.. farming.. or other NPC-required work (though once someone knows how to, i suppose they could use it for tricks and cheap ways to start a camp fire.. sure they might burn down everything near them too, but..)
right.. for tech, anything should work (though the modern arcana idea is slightly worn), i would have it maybe as FFIX's world (but without the airships...maybe), with the final big bad having suprizingly advanced tech. (since, you know.. technology is E-vile!)
which ever way you go, im sure that you'll make it good (and is Monday, too).. later today i'll try to post the first chapter of mah story. something tells me that ill post it in the blog area, too.
